The Costume Couture Process
Every Togatae Design is uniquely crafted
to fit your style, musical theme and unique personality.
Step 1: Initial Design
It all starts with an idea. But first I need a little bit of information –
1. What style of dance will you be performing (jazz, ballet en pointe, baton twirling, etc.)?
2. What song will you be performing to?
3. Do you have anything particular in mind (for example: 2-piece, halter, long skirt, pants, etc.)?
4. What color(s) do you like?
5. Do you have any design limitations (for example: large chested – need support/built-in bra)
6. Your measurements (see Measurements Page for instructions).
7. Budget range
I will use the information you provide to create a sketch
Step 2: Sketch Review
Design sketches with price estimates will be emailed to you for feedback. Re-sketches will be done as needed.
Step 3: Approval of Costume Design
Once you approve the costume design, I will send you a contract and a sample size leotard. Once you return the signed contract, front and back photos of you in the sample leotard, the sample leotard, and a 50% deposit, construction of your costume will begin. Completion Time Estimates will begin from the receipt of the contract, photos, returned sample and deposit. Please note: photos may be sent by email
Step 4: Costume Fitting (if needed)
For some very intricate designs, or designs with large cutouts, the costume will need to be fitted properly before beading/stoning is begun. This step will be discussed and included in the time estimate given in your contract.
The basic costume will be mailed to you via Priority Mail. We can either "Skype" the fitting or you can send me photos (front and back). Once the fitting is complete, the costume will need to be mailed back to me via Priority Mail.
Step 5: Delivery of Costume
Once completed, I will send you a photo of your completed costume via email. The balance of the costume must be paid in full before completed costume will be shipped via Priority Mail. If a personal check is sent for the balance, the costume will not be shipped until the check clears the bank.
Please see our Costume Care page for some general guidelines concerning proper care to extend the life of your new costume.
